With the constant depletion of the ozone layers and melting of ice caps, we all as citizens of the world try our hardest to maintain Mother Nature and the atmosphere. Global warming has allowed us to be quite more aware of our surroundings. The government has set up certain restrictions by factory owners and those who work with chemicals in apparel, because all of this has a lot to do with diminution of the planet.
Believe it not, the manufacturing and production of fibers and apparel are one of the top causes of global warming. Many designers and apparel production companies have tried to do their part to help with the ever growing dilemma. Same steps like using eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton can make a drastic change. By purchasing eco-friendly piece of clothing it forces the manufactures and designers to be create clothing that is more sustainable. Natural fibers such as hemp, flax, wool, and cotton are great to use for garments simply because they come from natural sources and are less harmful on our planet.
A current trend in fashion is up-cycling and down-cycling. Up-cycling is an element of sustainability in which old and wasteful materials are used to provide brand new products. Down-cycling however, is recycling a material into a material of less significant quality. Many new and even old designers are beginning to use this method in creating lines of clothing. In closing, this is just another way to preserve the Earth.
