NEWS RELEASE ISSUED BY THE OFFICE OF TRESA MCALHANEY, LIBERTARIAN CANDIDATE FOR KANSAS GOVERNOR:

On Monday morning, August 12th, Candidate McAlhaney was interviewed by the hosts of Coffee Talk on KINA radio in Salina about her presentation discussing Industrial Hemp at the Salina Public Library.

Candidate McAlhaney attended a meeting of the Fair Tax advocates in Overland Park on Tuesday evening, August 13th.

Wednesday evening, August 14th, Candidate McAlhaney spoke at a meeting of the general public, hosted by the local Libertarian Party group, on the topic of Hemp to Revive Kansas Farming and Business.

'McAlhaney explained how the crop requires less water and little pesticides. Hemp can also be fashioned into many usable products like rope, canvas, clothing, fiber boards and other items. Permitting hemp farming would not only expand farmers' options for crops but it would provide additional stability and profitability due to diversification.

"The best way to allow hemp farming would be to start legislation legalizing the process on a Federal level. This will only happen when states come together in support of hemp farming," she said.'
