Kansas City, Mo. - The debate over medical marijuana continues in Missouri.

A group of prosecutors is trying to block medical marijuana from the November ballot. The group claims that marijuana is a gateway drug.

Barry Grissom, a former U.S. Attorney for Kansas, told 41 Action News there is a way to prevent medical marijuana from becoming a gateway drug.

"This is something that we can regulate," said Grissom.

Prosecutors who are trying to block medical marijuana sympathize with people who want to use it to treat medical issues but stated the federal Food and Drug Administration has the authority to approve it for these uses but it hasn't.
