Slow release granules - Grind them up - Soak in water - Feed plant?

I understand that slow release fertilizer granules are generally a big no no?

I used them on my first grow and my plants suffered fom nitrogen toxicity, they never fully recovered after. Flushed and flushed until it got better.

Now my question is, would it work to grind them into a fine powder, mix it with water and then use it on my new grow? Almost 3 weeks into veg now.

Throw the SRGs on the tomatoes and buy some fertilizer formulated for cannabis. It's expensive, I know, but for the time you invest and considering the far better results, it's a much better way to go.

A two part or three part fertilizer mix allows you to give the plant the amounts of various nutrients at the correct point in the life cycle (e.g. more potassium and phosphorous when flowering).

Forgot to mention:

The granules I used on top of my soil last time and my veg was really healthy. I only got problems when I started flowering

I do believe that general purpose fertilizers tend to be heavy on nitrogen to encourage vegetative growth. Like Miracle Grow is 24-8-16, which is way too much N in the flowering phase.
