Small infection after pruning, what should I do?

One of my plants looks like it developed a small infection after topping. Right where I pinched off the growth tip, it developed some black-ish disease area and no new growth has formed. I noticed this 2 days ago and I have just been watching it. It hasn't gotten better, it is preventing growth of those 2 new tips, but it is not spreading either.

Should I prune the plant again, below the infection, or should I wait for signs it is getting worse first?

Ok, nevermind. I decided to prune it below the infection. Even if it did clear up, it has been preventing growth there long enough. This time I sterilized a razor blade with some rubbing alcohol so hopefully it will be infection free.

I lost a couple of small plants because I though sterilizing my blades was overkill. SMH It ain't overkill.
