GLENS FALLS -- A Glens Falls man who is opening an art gallery/glassware store on Park Street was charged with marijuana possession Sunday after the drug was found in another business he owns on the same street.

Robin M. Barkenhagen, 44, of William Street was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana after a Glens Falls Police officer who was checking business doors to make sure they were locked Sunday found the door to his 13 Park recording studio unlocked, police said.

The officer, Casey Gordon, entered and smelled marijuana and found a pipe with what appeared to be pot in it, police said. Barkenhagen was contacted to respond to lock the door, and was charged because he was the business' lease holder, authorities said.

Barkenhagen said the marijuana had apparently been left behind by musicians who had used the studio, but because he was the proprietor of the business, he was ultimately responsible.

Barkenhagen unsuccessfully ran for state Assembly in 2002 and the Warren County Board of Supervisors the next year.
