Vermont Decriminalizes Marijuana

I am pleased to announce that the Vermont legislature has passed a bill that decriminalizes marijuana possession. MPP lobbied in Montpelier for four years to pass this bill.

Specifically, the bill replaces the threat of arrest and jail with a civil citation and a fine, similar to a traffic ticket.

Gov. Pete Shumlin (D) has already expressed support for this measure, which means that...

Vermont will be the 17th state to decriminalize or legalize marijuana possession!

This is great news, but unfortunately it also means that people living in the other 33 states and D.C. still face jail time for possessing a substance that's safer than alcohol. You can help us change this by making a donation today.

The Vermont victory marks another big step toward ending marijuana prohibition in our country, but there's still a lot more work to be done. Marijuana policy reform bills have been introduced in 30 state legislatures this year, and your support is vital to achieving more victories
Our records show you have yet to make a donation this year. I hope this victory will inspire you to make your first donation of 2013 today to help us continue moving things forward in the states.

Thanks for your support!
