Welcome to the 2010 Eugene Cannabis Cup

The 2010 Eugene Cannabis Cup was organized by the non-profit organization called Voter Power. According to the organizations website, Voter Power was initially founded by several activists, in response to the 1997 attempt by the Oregon Legislature to recriminalize personal amounts of marijuana. Voter Power's Executive Director, John Sajo, and Legal Counsel, Leland Berger, helped draft the Oregon Medical Marijuana Act (OMMA).

Saturday at a patient medical marijuana clinic in Eugene, card holders got to test various strains of cannabis to determine which one best helped their medical conditions.

"We had 25 different patients try 18 different strands of cannabis and give us there perspective on how it helps with their debilitating diseases and symptoms," said Jim Greig.

For $25 the event included access to various cannabis strains, food and beverages. Greig said it was also a way for medical marijuana card holders to get information about growers and network with others.

Sounds more like an event for stoners recreating or patients over medicating event....What should have happened is patients sign up for a program to test various strains over as many days testing one strain each day and reporting their opinions on official pre formated questionaires.....then at the end of the trial period they turn in their finding to the folks dispensing the medicine for review.....anything else is just one strain being over powered by the next and the next and the next so that at the end you really would not know how each of the various strains helped.....That is why any
Cannabis Cup Event is really not a medical issue but a recreational one..

I completely agree with you. Smoking one variety after another is going to be easy to see which one helps more. They have a month to judge all the strains. This article left out that little bit of info. Which really makes it about the medical uses. Having some quality time with each sample to really see which one is the best. Here is another article on the Cup
