About 2-3 years ago, I remember reading about a fascinating concept, but didn't investigate further. Over the years, I have seen several things related but without much information. There's a seed company selling "electrified seeds"; see this one every month.Well today I saw an add for exactly what I'm mentioning here, that is the grounding of the plant to the earth. This ONLY applies to plants grown in pots and not in the ground.
It seems that plants (all, and not just MJ) grow best when they are grounded in soil, Mother Earth, their natural state. Those of us growing in containers, with or without soil, but NOT IN THE GROUND should at least investigate this concept. The add shows their system that IMHO is simply a means to embed an electrode into the root zone and then connect this to your house's ground.
One could simply use a piece of stainless steel rod, like 14 ga., as the electrode and connect via wire, these to the ground at any receptacle that has a good ground (use a circuit tester to make sure you have good ground, about $5.00 at the depot). I would guess that copper wouldn't be a good choice because copper will kill the plants for sure? Heck, there is a technique to get rid of trees by pounding a copper grounding rod into the root mass of the tree; works and will kill a large tree in a few weeks to months, depending on tree size and # of rods used. I don't know if it is the copper or the electrical current that gets focused there because of the copper rod. I cannot see from their add if they use some form of a "one direction" circuit to make sure that no current leaks back into the roots, but this should be a simple rectifier. Oh yea, this is keeping in line with the theories for D.C. current, where ground IS at D.C. I saw one picture of their "controller box" (junction box where all the plant leads are connected) that showed the plug arrangement and the + and - were both plastic (no connection/current passes), BUT the ground pin was real (copper) so the ground of the household current was being used. It does make a lot of sense when one considers the magnetic fields the Earth has and all the "electronics" that are happening all around us, all the time. Check it out! Fascinating read. God, I can always use all the help I can get, seriously!
I am going o experiment with this and see what happens. Obviously, I will report to you all either way. If I do good, I'll tell you BUT if I kill my plants, I'll admit this also. Wish me luck and ANY ADVICE will be most appreciated.
