Light bleaching under 1000w hps air cooled

I have 1G-13, 1 purple kush and 1 bagseed under 1000w hps which is cooled from outside air (20-30degrees f) so I can literally keep my plants 7-8 in. from the glass. They have been in flower for 4 days, before flowering I had them under a 400w MH. I just now got my inline fan so before I did not have them so close to the light. I setup the inline fan (440 cfm) the day I started them in flowering 12-12. 3 days in I noticed they started to look bleached out (sorry no photos as my camera sucks, I will be getting a better one soon) My room temp is about 72-74 degrees F. I figured the closer to the light the better as long as they don't burn but now I am noticing what looks like bleaching of the tops of my ladies. They are not burning at all, just losing the green color at the tops.

My question is:

Will this hurt them in the long run?

Will this affect quality?

Should I move them further from the light even though light heat is not an issue?

And did the fact that I went from 400w mh to 1000w hps while switching from veg. to flower have anything to do with this?

Well I decided that even though my plants were not burning the bleaching itself was not a good thing so I moved my light up another few inches which put them about 10-12 inches from the tops of my ladies and they are now doing great. It's been about 1.5 weeks and there looks to be no irreversible problems, so it's all good in my flower hood. LOL.
