Lol, Grow like weeds, They are weeds, Your Ph problem should calm down in a few days unless there is something else wrong which I doubt, You did your homework from what I can tell. When ever I start a new grow it takes a few days for the ph levels to set in. I just have to keep a eye on it.

Did you rinse the rockwool and hydroton with phed water before you put it in the system? That might have something to do with the cloudy water and your ph problem.

You can also use a empty toilet paper roll cut to length to keep it in place till it can stand on its own and keep the CFL close to the plant.

So basically this is just 2 powerstrips that you use for adapters for lights ? If so, I think your throwing people off by calling it a ballast.

Re: brown spots on bottom of res. What kind of nutes are you useing, I have seen it but I use Floranova nutes, And it's brown going in. What's the temp in the res, If it's high it could be algea growing. Could also be leaking light into the res.
