420, what are the advantages in using perlite/vermiculite rather than soil/perlite? Was it just preference or does it better promote root growth/yield.

Thanks sully508. My other concerns are heat and electricity costs. Has anyone had experiences with Cool Tubes and/or Water Cooled Tube reflectors? I've heard that you can run your light 6"-9" from the tops instead of 18" to give it more light.
