Here is $5,000 Build an ideal room

Seeing how everyones situation is different, I would make a list of important factors, like, can you afford to operate "lots of 1000 HPS lights" once you have them. Is odor an issue, that determines how much odor control you need. Where I'm going with this is, no one can make you a list of what...

    Eye 1000w enhanced spectrum bulb

Hi all, My "EYE 1000w HPS enhanced spectrum horticulture bulb" showed up today. I've been using a 400w industrial bulb for 9 months now and the difference is spectacular! My girls are VERY happy. Can you say "bright as the sun"? I'm here to tell you, this is the brightest bulb I've ever...

    Lighting and heat issues

Small grow containers dry out FAST when you get over 80°.

    Vent?

No, your fan will start and run at full speed. Speed control would be used to slow it down. If you have any duct work attached, make it as short a run as possible, with as few bends and turns as possible.

    Carbon filter?

my nephew has a small setup in his basement and he used a Radio Shack UV air purifier in his grow room and his weed has very little smell, even after harvest, no odor. I like a little stink in my plants. I told him to get a regular carbon filter, and pump it to another part of the basement...

    Input needed for this setup

Ditto, start small and safe. 6 - 600's will need an efficient electrical setup to be safe and user friendly. Like BWC said experience is key. A lot of people have ideas and imaginary views of a room full of 4' tall plants with 24" colas on them. No prob, but you have to germ or clone, veg, then...

Electrcity usage, how much is too much?

Thanks for the correction. Maybe it will help the ballast last longer, who knows.

Electrcity usage, how much is too much?

Another Electrical energy saver - if your HPS/MH ballast is a multi tap, try and wire it for 220 instead of 110, you will not be pulling so much energy.

male or female? that is the question

Eh, If your not sure, Kill it! It only takes one male or hermie to pollinate everything in the room. Then you'll be harvesting seeds. True females look like true females. You can leave it in your flower room and check it a couple of times a day, when they start to really show it's easy to tell...

Free Power , Off the Grid

OR .... you could really spend some bucks and build solar panels for your LED/CFL light panels. It wouldn't take so many panels to run LEDs and CFL's compared to HID's. Granted HID's do a faster better penetrating job, but it's just a thought.

    SOG and perpetual harvest question

Thats a great drawing Tintala - Once you get good at it, things should go like clockwork.

    Easy CFL reflector

Thanks again SS - I did some temp readings with a ir temp gun. I checked the T12's in the veg room, they are about 80-90 f. in the middle and a bit hotter at the ends, the ballast area is an easy 100 f. The same fixtures and bulbs in the flower room for side lights seem to measure a bit...

    Grow room tempature

Pot is hearty, but growth slows at high temps. Good ventilation ls the easiest quick cool.

    Easy CFL reflector

Thanks Setting Sun - I was sort of brain dead when I wrote that last night, i too thought of cooling holes, but forgot about them until i read your post. Great idea for T5 retro. I'm going to try and work up some figures on Lumens later. I'm sure the output of four CFL's should be much more...

    High to All from Gadgetman728

Sorry for the delayed reply, Dizzy. Right now the hose is on the discharge side of the squirrel cage, leading directly to the hole in the floor and under my house. When the fan kicks on, it draws the warm air from up high, blows it through the floor, creating a suction from the hole with an...
