At the July 28 meeting of the Borough Assembly, assembly members Lance Roberts and Diane Hutchison both kept voting to stop marijuana licenses on the grounds marijuana is still illegal under federal law and it is a threat to community health.
On the first point, please look at an interview from 2015 with President Obama stating, "We're not going to spend a lot of resources trying to turn back decisions made at the state level on this issue." It can be found on YouTube at Obama: More likely to legalize marijuana - YouTube.
Secondly, if marijuana is such a threat to community health, why is it the DEA has approved a study, with the blessing of the Pentagon, for the military to use it to treat PTSD and other disorders, as reported by the Military Times in April?
Ms. Hutchison and Mr. Roberts should back their arguments up with facts, not their personal prejudices.
