Can someone who does not currently own a dispensary ever open a retail MJ shop in CO?

Currently at the time of this writing, the only people allowed to apply for a retail marijuana license in Colorado are those who already own a medial marijuana dispensary in good standing.

I have heard rumors that is only the case until July 1, 2014. Does this mean anyone can apply after that?

Wondering if anyone here knows anything about this.

Thanks!

Looks like another law that needs changing.

No one thought weed would be legal and here it is.

Should Colorado take pot 'macro?'

As the article states, this thing of keeping everyone else out is only temporary. I am glad. I would like to make a living doing what I love as well.

Not surprisingly, those who are already in the business will do anything to keep anyone else out who is not already in the business. How greedy.
