change from veg cfl to 600watt hps

just replaced a dying 400w HPS with a 1000w HPS... no heat stress, but got light stress/bleaching...

double the distance from the plants from 1.5 ft. to 3 ft.. fine now... looks weird though.

So, this is the first I've heard of light bleaching, and am unsure of what exactly causes it. Is it due to the heat, or the increased light intensity?
