Clones before flowering

I have three plants that I'm about ready to start flowering on a 12/12 cycle. My question is; can I take clones from them right before I start flowering? Or should I wait a couple of days after I cut them?
They've been in the vegetative cycle since the last week of September. I'm a novice at growing so even though they are showing preflowers I can't id them. I do have a camera but it does not do well on close ups.

Hope you took them just before letting them flower.

I did. Both the mothers and the babies are doing fine. Unfortunately I just found out one of the mothers is a father.
