Confused?

Hi,
I live out at the beach, Tacoma is 2 hours away, Seattle 3 hours. Most of my medical is obtained at one of the two available V. A. Hospitals, I'm resonabaly certain no one there will sign a MMJ form, since it's still illegal at a federal level. Yet most of the clubs/dispensaries require a MMJ card to participate. So how do I get this ball rolling? I am a post-femoral amputee with pain in the residual limb and spasms, so I'm pretty sure I qualify. Can someone help with some solid information?
I guess I'm looking for Doctor in a box.
Thank You in advance.:peacetwo:

There are getting to be a few out there.THCF,Sentry,Cannacare and others.
The law is being changed right now which will open up for PAC's and other health workers able to write the authorizations.
Pickup a Little Nickel paper at your local store or gas station, there's usually 4 or 5 of them on the front cover.

Thanks for the reply. But these are the people asking me for a signed letter from my primary care doctor. I don't have one. Who can you trust in this situation?
Thank you weed420 I just contacted Cannacare and Sentry, never even heard of either one. Thanks

the signed letter is related to the new healthcare bill that just passed. I am not aware of how this is being handled yet but is almost impossible for many. I can talk to Steve Sarich and see if I can get you some info if youd like (he owns cannacare and we work together)

Thanks that'd be great. This is harder than I thought it would be. I also contacted Cannacare, they should have my e-mail. Thanks again, every bit helps.

Beware of any people/businesses that offer to help you get a card but do not allow you to designate your own caregiver. I have read that places which offer such help but force you to sign away your rights in this regard are somewhat common as they can then show on paper that they've added another patient (for their requirements) - or else make $$$ by "selling you" to someone else. Check all your paperwork carefully before signing any of it (or paying the first cent). Common-sense but we sometimes ignore our common-sense when someone offers to help us deal with our suffering.

Thank you Torturedsoul, your absolutely correct. There seem to be quite a few new ways to screw you on the net. Particularly on MMJ sites, they always strike the most vulnerable among us.
I'm mainly using a site close to home, they seem fairly trustworthy and honest. At least the ones I've communicated with.

Most of the dispensaries here are having customers sign a temporary caregiver document. It authorizes them to be your caretaker only for the time you're in there building. They're tryong to stay in that gray area of the law.

Ihop, I also live out on the coast and I could find no medical MJ doctors here in Gray's Harbor County.

My regular doctor could authorize it, but I don't want to put him in a hard spot so I won't ask him.
Of course I will tell him I am smoking after I actually start.

I called a place in Spokane that does clinics around the state including Seattle and Tacoma.

They took some info and sent me an authorization form so they can get copies of my medical records.
They also told me that if I got them myself and faxed them it would expedite things.

My doctor's office has copies of all the recent reports from the specialists he referred me to so I got copies.
There were eight pages and cost me eight bucks to fax it at Staples.

The next step is to get an appointment with their doctor to get the authorization.
I think they wait until they get a few applications from a particular area and then schedule a clinic in that area.
Mine will be in Tacoma, although I can drive the extra bit to Seattle if I have to.

The appointment will cost $200.

I didn't post a phone number because until the deal actually works out, I don't want to post any info that may possible be bogus.
But if you want to contact them, email me and I'll send you the info.

It is a pain isn't it. The law will be changing soon and make this a lot easier.
$200 is too much but then they have to be all lawyered up to cover there ass in case some local prosecutor wants to make a name for himself by sueing them.

Suing them for what? If they're not involved in malpractice they should have nothing to worry about. People ought to grow some balls instead of trying to duck and hide. Sooner or later those who prey will run out of visible targets and decide to grab a shovel and start digging the ostich's heads out of the sand. (Not talking about you but ather the people who are "covering their ass".)

If more people dealt with their regular doctors instead of helping to make greedy SoBs (who just happen to have a medical license) even richer, they just might help their regular doctors realize that the entire medical marijuana movement is not just a fad, a few stoners(sic) trying to legally recreate, etc. - while at the same time helping to prevent one of the three main forms of profit screwing the ill in the medical marijuana movement.

Either that... Or if he won't write you a MJ recommendation (and you truly qualify) then you should kick his ass to the curb and find a different "regular doctor." If my dentist decided that he was going to use hypnosis instead of that Novocaine (that I prefer) next time he has to drill into my jaw, I'm going to a different dentist for the procedure. And I won't be going back to ol' witchy-eyes next time I need a simple cleaning, either; because if he doesn't agree with something so fundamental to my beliefs, why should I continue to fund his golf-Wednesdays?

You are correct that if they follow the state guidelines they can not be sued in this state. That clause id contained in the new law. But they can be sued federally if they are not careful on what they write on the MMJ authorization. They should never put any dosage or plant limits on the authorization because that constitutes a prescription and that is illegal. Doctors are licensed by states for there right to practice medicine but they are licensed federally by the DEA for the right to write prescriptions of any kind. If a doctor loses his right to write prescriptions then that means he has been found guilty of a felony and because he now has felony he can lose his right to practice medicine in the state.
This is why only the doctors willing to take the risk and are all lawyered up are doing it.
This will change soon because the new law was signed ny the governor yeaterday I believe that authorise PAC's and other to sign MMJ authorization forms and because PAC"S can't legally write prescriptions they can put whatever guidelines they want on the auhorization forms to help cover patients asses from prosecution if you happen to need more than the 15 plant 24 ounce guideline.

Here is what I understand and what the doctor that wrote my prescription required from me. He wanted me to bring medicle records stating that I have been treated for my chronic illness at least twice and the visits to the pain management doctor must have been at least 90 days apart. All I had to do was visit medicle records and request a copy of my chart notes from the past 2 years. I have been to the doctor at least 9 times in 2 years for my condition. I took these chart notes to this place in Portland where the doctor was licensed to treat both oregon and washington patients and she wrote me my prescription. Because I am on dissability it was only 120 bucks instead of 200.

This is their website. Very nice people.
