The public hearings will help the board decide on adopting three ordinances pertaining to medical marijuana: one requiring an annual commercial medical cannabis permit for commercial medical cannabis activities; one requiring an annual personal medical cannabis permit for personal cultivation of 100-square feet or less of medical marijuana for personal use; and another imposing a county general tax on commercial cannabis businesses in unincorporated areas of Monterey County.

Public comment will be accepted at both hearings.

The July 12 public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m.; the July 19 public hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. The meetings will be held in the Monterey County Government Center, Board of Supervisors Chambers on the first floor of 168 W. Alisal St. in Salinas.

The ordinances are available for public review at the Monterey County Resource Management Agency, Planning Department and at Monterey County, CA : Planning A copy of the full text of the ordinances will also be posted at the office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors in the Monterey County Government Center.
