WEEK 18

This week was the last major training I did with the stakes. At this point, even with training, Ricki is taller than I am. I spread most of Brittanys branches out and staked them down, really opening the plant up to the light. Becca is pretty sickly looking at this point. Brianna and especially Amanda are both starting to really take shape beautifully.

Might supercrop some of Amandas branches next trip.

Quick Report!

I went out today to do my checking and maintenance, and was very happy to discover that all of this patch, except Colleen, have begun flowering! And they are all female! I haven't been this lucky in a few years, and even if Colleen does turn out to be male, I'm still very satisfied with this patch so far, despite it's initial hardships. I will take pictures on Sunday when I go back and will post them soon after that. Very excited!

We're finally all in flower! Colleen turned out to be female after all, shes throwing a few pistils here and there. My other patch near here wasnt as lucky, had to pull 2 males. But Im very excited for these ones! On thursday, I supercropped Amanda, Brianna, Ricki to open them up more. Sorry about the pictures, they rent the best. My nighttime photography skills need some work. Colleen and Becca arent shown, just couldnt get a good pic. Anyways, Heeeeeeere we go!

Theyre looking good to me, and I'm hoping for a decent yield off these girls. Almost 6 months veg time, thats the longest Ive ever done in my climate (around N. 45 degrees). Keep your fingers crossed that I have no real problems.

Went out today, and got some shots of the ladies I was missing earlier in the week. Also got stung by a yellow jacket. Apparently, Theres a nest between this patch and the one next to it. I swear, I have been attacked by more crazy insects this year than any other.:yikes: Also noticed my soil is getting pretty acidic, so I might have to try and get ahold of some lime this week. Luckily, my meter says the soil is full of nutrients, so I watered with only kelp extract. The PH of the water from the nearby creek is about 7, so maybe thatll help a little. Anyways, heres some pics:

Poor beat up Becca, shes a little survivor though, and I respect that:

One of Briannas buds. Shes really packing on the pistils quick!

Speaking of Brianna, how about this supercrop knot, from earlier in the year?!

So, I think my soils PH problem is being caused by fertilizer buildup. I check PH every so often, but my meter has another setting for "fertility" of the soil, which admittedly, I havent used much. Ive just been giving them nutrients by judgement on how they look, and in hindsight, maybe I shouldve been checking the meter more often. My plants seem to be ok so far in the acidic soil, but im trying to prevent this from becoming a problem. The fertility meter is reading in the red. "Too fertile" it says. So i believe this is the problem. So today I went out to my site, added some lime to the soil, used my cultivator to mix it in to the top layer of soil real good, and then gave the soil two more gallons of plain water from the nearby creek. The PH of the creek water holds at pretty much 7 all year. I will check the soil again hopefully on Sunday. I really shouldve flushed before flowering began, but it totally slipped my mind this year. So I guess Ill be spending the next week or two flushing the soil and trying to get the PH and nutrient buildup back to a more acceptable level and hope my buds arent to badly affected. If theres one thing Ive learned over the years, its that more times than not, your gonna forget something or mess something up in some way lol. You just have to try and recover the best you can, and move forward. Like I said, no real signs of lockout yet, so maybe I caught it in time. Brianna in particular, is really packing on bud weight quickly. Like twice the amount of the others. Maybe she likes bad soil, heh.:laughtwo:

WEEK 2:

ph and fertility problems seem under control now. It took a lot of water and a bit of lime, but PH is hanging at about 6-6.5. A storm came through, and knocked a branch out of a tree which took Rickis top off. It was probably about the top foot of her, so that sucks, but not much i can do about it. used some garden tie to keep the cut end upright. Other than that, looking good. I have week 3s pictures ready and they've really exploded with gowth between week 2 and 3. I will resize and upload those photos later.
