(ORLANDO, Fla.) - Salem-News.com writer and noted Medical Marijuana physician Dr. Phil Leveque, is in Orlando, Florida to speak at a special event at the University of Central Florida.

Dr. Leveque was set to go last week, but freezing conditions across much of the country, even in place like Florida and Texas, saw airport traffic slow to a halt in some locations.

One of the most highly educated physician/pharmacologist/forensic toxicologists in the world today, Dr. Leveque will address the subject of medical marijuana, and few are missing the fact that this herb is drawing increasing attention across the nation.

Between one and two hundred people from a Florida Chapter of NORML are expected to attend the special event.

The talk will review the various benefits of medical marijuana, something few doctors have more experience with.

Dr. Leveque's presentation includes a slideshow with figures from Storm Crow and the late Dr. Tod Mikuriya, a good friend of Leveque's, whose research is highly credited for the rapid advancements that medical cannabis has seen in recent years, particularly in California where Dr. Mikuriya was based.

Dr. Leveque says this special presentation, "Will explain that medical marijuana is almost a first choice drug for a whole bunch of diseases."

Over the years, Dr. Phil Leveque has spoken to audiences at Portland State University, Mount Hood Community College, Clackamas Community College, University of Washington School of Medicine, and several other campuses.

He has been interviewed by CNN's Anderson Cooper, the LA Times, Seattle Times, major papers in Vancouver, The New York Times, Washington Post, and major newspapers in Rome, Berlin, Norway, Russia and Japan.

Dr. Leveque will explain how he came to practice medicine, discussing several ways he was able to help people in his career, and he will share his knowledge of marijuana and the way it alleviates certain symptoms, while elaborating on how marijuana helps patients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

He plans to take questions regarding the interest in the prevalence of medical marijuana in ADD/ADHD and Autism, while discussing what some of the obstacles are that patients have had to overcome to obtain a medical marijuana permit in Oregon.

:bravo: Legalization in Florida is something I never thought I would see. Maybe this will help some of our older voters see through all the smoke.
