The town of Dutton may add its name to the list of Montana communities placing a moratorium on medical marijuana.
The Dutton town council is considering a six-month moratorium on sales of marijuana. The moratorium would allow the legislature time to work on the issue during the upcoming session.
The public comment period begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday at the Dutton Town Hall. First reading of the ordinance will occur during the official meeting, which starts at 7:30.
The council is expected to vote on the measure in August..
A medical marijuana ban in Great Falls took effect on Thursday (July 1st); Havre recently passed a six-month moratorium; and Kalispell passed a zoning ordinance to prohibit medical marijuana facilities as long as Montana's law is different from federal law.
