EC Reading

Hi 420 Friends!

I have two plants growing at the moment that are in Veg phase. One on the right is Harlequin (8 weeks from germ) and the left is unknown (5 weeks from germ). I have been feeding 1 gallon each with half quantity Fox Farms nutes once a week. I use tap water and let sit 24 hours open before feeding, add nutes then pH to 6.0 and EC to .7 to 1.0.

The run-off has been solid until last week at 6.0 pH and 1.0 EC. The last two feedings though have been off. The pH is good at 5.9 and 6.0 respectively but both plants have had a really high EC of 2.3.

I believe that it should be between 1.0 and 1.5. What should I do?

My set-up list is below.

Tent: 4.5' x 4.5' x 7'
Light: 450w MH for Veg 16-18" above top of plants
Medium: FF mix happy frog, ocean forest, and perlite
Container: 5 gallon air pot
Nutrients: FF trio
Ventilation: 3 x 450cfm in-line fans (1 to cool light, 1 to extract w/ filter, and 1 intake)
Temp control: 13,000 btu a/c and heat stand alone unit
Meter: blue lab pH, EC, and temp

2 x 1 gallon humidifiers

Nice set up. Your plants look happy. I use Canna Terra and the water PH is between 5.8-6.2 depending. Shouldn't you be PHing your water at 6.5?

Thanks Calvados! You are probably right about the pH. I was going to step it up to 6.5 when I flip them next week.

Just wondering how to reduce the EC. I think 2.3 is too high. Does that mean the pH is too low and the plants are not taking in the nutrients?

Alright, so I flushed both plants to get them down to 1.5 and 1.2 EC and 6.1 and 6.2 pH respectively.

What a pain in the butt that was. Can someone recommend a way to avoid that in the future? I have been feeding at 1.0 EC. How did it jump to 2.4+?

My thoughts are:

1) The plant already had enough nutrients in the soil and I started feeding too early.

2) The plants haven't been able to absorb them.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I kind of suspect nitro toxicity but i hope another confirms. Try backing off a bit in nutes. I normally water with nutes wait water only then next nutes again. Seems to work well.
