Police arrested a New Orleans man displaced by Hurricane Katrina after they found nearly 2 pounds of marijuana in his motel room Tuesday, Police Chief Joey Watson said. Zachary police received a complaint Monday from the Best Western on La. 19 that a guest apparently had a large amount of marijuana in his room, Watson said.

The man was not in his room when police investigated the complaint, but officers kept the room under surveillance until about 5 a.m. Tuesday when they arrested Brian Michael Wyble, 39, formerly of 2931 St. Ann St., New Orleans, Watson said. Officers seized 889 grams, or just under 2 pounds, of marijuana in the raid, along with $2,195 in cash that Wyble had in his shirt pocket, the police chief said.

Wyble was booked at Parish Prison with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
