An investigation of theft of electricity led to the discovery of 46 marijuana plants, according to Pasco County Sheriff's Office.

On Wednesday, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative asked the Sheriff's Office to look into the suspicious usage of power at 9637 Lake Chrise Lane in New Port Richey. Inside, deputies said, they discovered that three rooms of the home had been converted and modified to grow 5- to 6-foot marijuana plants, totaling 223.9 pounds.

Deputies also found 50.78 pounds of processed marijuana. The theft of power service reported by Withlacoochee totaled $17,488.05.

In addition to the marijuana, deputies said they seized two 5-ton air-conditioning units and a 2009 BMW, which they believe may have been stolen. The investigation is ongoing, and, as of Thursday morning, no one had been arrested or charged.
