People are gearing up to learn more about Georgia's new medical marijuana law.

Victoria Elizabeth was one of more than a dozen families who relocated to Colorado for access to cannabis oil they say eases the suffering of their children.
"I've heard other medical refugees say it's like meeting your child or the first time," Elizabeth said. "It almost sounds like a cliché until you actually get out there and you get your child on the medicine and finally get them to stop having seizures and you finally get to see the real child that's been in there for 13 years."
Elizabeth's family is now back in Georgia — hopefully for good. She said the cannabis oil made a tremendous impact on her daughter.
"She was happy, she was happy and began to develop normally for the first time," Elizabeth said.
Haleigh's Hope was a top priority this legislative session. Gov. Nathan Deal is expected to sign it into law so that qualifying patients can possess cannabis oil in Georgia without facing arrest.
"We're going to have this commission that's going to give us this input of should we set up a in-state cultivation delivery system in Georgia, which I think we probably need to go to so we can regulate the product so we can provide a safe and effective product," parent Corey Lowe said.
Corey Lowe and other families will take part in what they're calling "Cannabis Oil 101" -- an information sharing session on the new registration rules, the legal challenges and the effort to expand and cultivate medical marijuana in Georgia.
"Next session we're going to be back at the Capitol full force fighting for cultivation, and adding fibromyalgia, PTSD and autism hopefully," Lowe said.
Gov. Deal is expected to sign the new bill into law in the next couple of weeks. Patients who qualify for cannabis oil will have to sign up for a registry that is similar to the one in Colorado.
