'Hash Bash' 2010 Drawing High Numbers

Nice weather and changes in Michigan's marijuana laws had organizers predicting a big crowd at Ann Arbor's annual Hash Bash Saturday.

The 39th edition of the pot-smoking festival took place Saturday on the University of Michigan campus where enforcement of marijuana statutes is traditionally minimal at best.

Organizer Adam Brook told the Detroit Free Press that Michigan's 15-month-old medical marijuana law has fired up enthusiasm about the use of the weed in the state, which could draw an even larger throng than the approximately 10,000 who stumbled into the collective cloud of smoke about 10 years ago.

The Free Press said medical-pot movement should provide ample material for venerable stoner comics Cheech and Chong to riff on when they appear at Ann Arbor's Michigan Theatre Saturday night. Tickets for the gig cost around $40 to $50.
