Chicago - A Cook County Circuit Court judge ordered a Chicago man held on $300,000 bond Sunday after a landlord's telephone call led police to a cache of 750 pounds of marijuana.

Police say the landlord called them after he noticed the smell of burning marijuana in his South Side apartment building. The officers who went to the scene said they found 25 bricks of compressed marijuana in an open cooler in the apartment's kitchen.

The arrested man, Dionicio Uriostegui, 36, told police he was watching the drug for a man known only as "Poncho," who was supposedly on a visit to California.

Uriostegui was charged with two counts of possession of cannabis and one count of failing to register a firearm.
