During the 2009 session, not one legislator stepped forward on behalf of Indiana's seriously ill to introduce a medical marijuana bill. Because lawmakers have failed to address this issue, Indiana residents continue to be treated like criminals for using medical marijuana. We need your help in making sure the General Assembly makes progress towards ending the cruel practice of arresting and jailing patients.

Please contact your legislators today and tell them that it is time for Indiana to join the 13 other states that have passed laws to protect their sick and dying. Tell them that patients and their doctors should be free to choose the type of treatment that they see fit, without interference from police and prosecutors.

You can also write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper and show your support for medical marijuana legislation.

If you are a medical professional, a patient who might benefit from medical marijuana, or if you know somebody who might benefit from medical marijuana, we would like to hear from you. Additionally, if you are a law enforcement official, a clergy member, or a member of the legal community, please e-mail state@mpp.org to see how you can be of special help.

To stay updated on the status of marijuana policy reform in Indiana, be sure to subscribe to MPP's free legislative alert service today, if you haven't done so already. If you have any questions concerning the status of marijuana policy reform in Indiana, you can contact MPP at state@mpp.org.

Thank you for supporting the Marijuana Policy Project. Please pass this information on to others – ultimately, it is people like you who make the difference by spreading the word and convincing legislators to bring this issue to the table.
