Laws regarding growing in apartments

I recently decided due to lack of finances to start growing my own, however I am concerned about whether or not I can become evicted from my apartment. I know they have a no drugs policy on the lease, however I use it for medical reasons.

I live in California, and I was wondering if anyone has any information or advice on whether or not I should be concerned. Should I be direct and ask the main office about it? Im really nervous about this situation. Thanks for any advice!

Also, on an unrelated note.. I work for a financial institution, and although I could call our HR department to ask whether or not I could be fired for having a medical prescription, I am also nervous to even call and ask. Has anyone had any experience with this situation before as well, or some friendly advice?

Are you legally entitled to grow cannabis under California's medical cannabis program?

Does the owner of the apartment building accept any federal monies (such as HUD)?

Does the owner live out of state?

Yes, I believe so, and I'm not sure. Are there any resources I should look into you can direct me towards? Thanks!

Most leases ban any electrical modifications or fire code violations, shit some even wont let you paint.

Any apartment i ever lived in had a clause about not having any "water filled furniture"...ie water tanks, tables...or water beds.

Lease says no drugs thats a pretty good indication that you are not allowed to grow there.

if you have your med paper work they can stop you but im no lawyer and u still want to keep it on the down low

Hey there XWX,

My advice: Be stealthy. Every apt application I have ever seen has that "drug" clause in it. There is no clear law protecting med growers in reguards to housing. Landlords reserve the right to boot your ars if you break the terms of the lease.

So, BE STEALTHY! And for god sakes, buy a carbon can air scrubber/fan combo. That delicious stank is your main problem when in apts. Don't PO the neighbors. Count on stench, and a way to treat it. If you run an A/C, be sure to use a deodorizer, attached right to the front of the unit(on the inside) to treat the air it's recirculating.

Asking the folks in HR is probly not the best idea. Get yourself a bottle of fake piss, and keep it on you at work. It's like 30 bucks, and works every time. It's not neccessary that you disclose your medical status with your employer-probly shouldn't kick that dog.
