Lights for flowering

I have 2 250 wat metal halide bulbs over the plants for veg.i can swap them for 400 watt super HPS when I go to 12/12 but my HPS bulbs are just about at the end of there life expectancy. the manufacturer says it's good for 12 months of continues use. and I'm just about there. so my question is how important is the change to a more red spectrum of light ?

It's a pretty big difference man. When I ran older lights compared to new ones my buds show a difference. Less full mostly not something crazy but still was a difference.

The only reason I switch my flower bulbs before they get to a certain point is a for Back up bulbs but mainly so they don't shut off halfway through flower. I cycle my bulbs every 6-10months.
