Can you remove the lower popcorn buds at 1 month of flower or it's to late for that?

You can, but I usually just leave them and throw them in the trim bucket at harvest to be made into infused oil of some sort.

im not planning on doing that type of stuff soo... If i want to maximize my yield, what would be wiser?

I would leave the popcorn and trim the fan leaves. Popcorn buds with enough light getting to them will bulk up too.

I like to harvest all the top mature buds, and then let the popcorn get full light for an additional 15-20 days. Those extra days with full light really does make the popcorn even better and more developed.
