An Enid man has been charged with growing marijuana after police found several plants in his apartment.

Weldon Cody Travis is facing from two years to life in prison and a $50,000 fine if convicted of cultivation of a controlled substance.

Travis, 23, was arrested Monday after an altercation with his ex-girlfriend, according to court documents. Enid police were called to his apartment in the 2700 block of East Pine because of a reported domestic disturbance.

Travis' ex-girlfriend told officers he had thrown an ash tray at her, the affidavit states. She also said he had been growing marijuana in their baby's room.

Travis said there were no drugs in his apartment and agreed to allow officers inside to search, according to the affidavit.

Officers found seven containers of soil in the kitchen trash, each one with a marijuana seed in it, the affidavit states.

Travis admitted he had tried to grow some marijuana last week, but threw away the containers two days later, according to the affidavit. He also showed police three other containers bearing marijuana seeds that were inside a dresser in his child's room.

Travis also had an ash tray containing drug paraphernalia under the couch, the affidavit states.
