The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has released the list of groups applying tor a medical marijuana dispensary license.

There are 181 applicants in Massachusetts. Thirteen applicants in Hampden County, seven are in Franklin County, five are in Hampshire County, and three are in Berkshire County.

To see the list of applicants in the state you can click here. The list of applicants includes the name of the non-profit corporation, a contact person (if provided) and the first county of preference for the Registered Medical Marijuana Dispensary location.

Phase 1 application forms were due on Thursday and had to be hand-delivered.

The applications will be reviewed in two phases. Phase 1 applicants will be reviewed for their non-profit status and financial suitability. Applicants must also state if any member of their organization has a felony drug conviction.

Applicants who advanced through Phase 1 will move on to Phase 2 this fall. That's when a selection committee will conduct an in-depth review and select dispensaries through a competitive process.

The voter-approved medical marijuana law will allow the Department of Public Health to register up to 35 non-profit Marijuana Dispensaries across the state, with at least one, but no more than five dispensaries in each county.

The Phase 1 review is expected to be completed by mid-September.
