An attempted robbery at a Marina del Rey medical marijuana dispensary Sunday evening sparked a melee, which ended in one arrest and a mess of pot scattered outside the shop.
Described as "disgruntled," an ex-employee of Venezia Discount Collective at 3018 Washington Boulevard visited his former workplace around 6pm with a mission to get paid for hours worked. KTLA reports the ex-employee and a current employee "got into a confrontation."
In an attempt to help the situation, three friends of the ex-employee, whose identity has not been released, entered the store and began stealing merchandise. The owner of the store, a man named Jackie, summoned his martial arts background and defended his goods.
One suspect was reportedly knocked unconscious from a blow to the head; witnesses told reporters they saw bloodied men leaving the store. Footage of the fray aftermath shows Jackie exiting the store with a torn shirt and weed strewn across the ground in front of the shop.
"They messed with the wrong guy," said a witness.
Authorities detained one suspect Sunday night and are on the hunt for the other three involved in the rumble.
