Mold on trimmings I planned to compost - Good or bad?

I had a bunch of trimmings saved in a tub that I planned on using in compost, but I let it sit there too long and it developed some kind of fungus/mold. I am wondering if it is safe to use in compost. It doesn't have an anaerobic smell imo.

Does anyone think this shouldn't be used as compost now? Or is this just regular breakdown?

Mold is organic.....go ahead. It shouldn't hurt anything.

Well tx for enlighting me about the organic bit. But seriously I was just worried it might have been a bad type of bacteria or something that could negatively impact the soil food web. Tx for the input. I never composted before and I dont want to fool it up the first time.

Fungi are eating the lignin and breaking it down, it's a natural process. And spores are everywhere.
