Muffler/Duct?

Hey folks, I'm setting up my first HPS set up. It's a 400 watt'er. I am adapting a walk in closet. Now, I have to pull the heat out of the closet with an inline fan....and I want to use a muffler. I have a couple of Qs.

#1. Do they really suppress noise?
#2. Does the flex duct stuff fit over the end? I can't find any dimensions....

Yes they work well for suppressing noise, especially when the fan is sandwiched with a carbon filter and the muffler.

Typically a muffler has two flanges on each end to easily hook up to ducting. Insulated ducting + foam clamps help as well.
