Hi all,
Things have changed a lot since the 60's, when I used gro-lux Fluorescent lights with 3 lb ballasts in my closet! Planted a few outdoors as well, but they didn't last long - everyone knew what a pot plant looked like and....
Grew from seeds of course. In those days weed was $25/ounce and the song "Down to Stems and Seeds again" had a lot of meaning. Been to many "Key" (for Kilo) Parties and saw stems as thick as my thumb. I was in the inner circle in my area, never actually paid for anything since everyone knew me and gave me stuff because I was poor and that's the way it was - the truly good people helped other good people.
Wearing a peace sign or a tie-dyed shirt was a sure sign of a wannabe, as was referring to anyone as a "Hippie" (we called ourselves Freaks). Ah, the good old days....
FYI - The current average-grade bud from the dispensaries is like high-grade hash from the 60's!
Helping a friend set up and run a grow room using clones and a drip system. The toddlers are doing well but it took a little fine tuning of the nutrient mix to see close to 1 inch a day growth.
I've watched all the freedoms we had in the US legislated away one by one: I read 1984 by George Orwell but never thought it would actually arrive. But now it is a reality compared to life in the 60's and 70's. When I was a kid and a cop caught one of us with a joint, he chewed us out and told us to get our shit together. No arrest, no threats, no police state mentality. Now in many states the pigs take joy in trashing a kid's chance at getting into college and having a clean record for a few crumbs on the floorboard of a car.
So I cherish the few freedoms we have left, like medical marijuana and the right to grow it. Wish me luck in my endeavor. Next step is my own grow room, but that's about 9 months down the road, what with my addiction to sleeping indoors and eating daily....
