A 55-year-old New Zealand man has been arrested in Bali, accused of selling marijuana to foreigners.

Richard David Semarr was arrested during an undercover operation last Wednesday in Bali's resort area of Sanur.

Indonesian police say that a foreigner posing as a buyer approached Semarr. That led to his arrest.

Police say they seized six sachets of marijuana weighing a total of 42.5 grams.

The investigation is continuing while Semarr is detained at Denpasar police station without legal representation.

Police would not reveal the identity of the foreigner who assisted them with their sting operation.
