The Canadian Medical Cannabis Industry Association (CMCIA) has announced that OrganiGram Inc. is re-joining the Association as a member. OrganiGram, based in Moncton, New Brunswick, is licensed to produce and sell medical cannabis under Health Canada's Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR). The company is the only Licensed Producer (LP) in Atlantic Canada.

With the addition of OrganiGram, CMCIA now comprises 15 of the 22 companies that currently hold the 27 Health Canada licenses to cultivate and sell medical cannabis.

"We are very pleased to welcome OrganiGram to the Association," said Colette Rivet, Executive Director of CMCIA. "OrganiGram joins the Association at a pivotal moment, and will help us fulfill our mission, including protecting patients' interests, expanding stakeholder relationships, maintaining ethical practices, and participating in critical public policy discussions."

"This is the right time for the legal, regulated producers of cannabis to come together and speak with a united voice," said Denis Arsenault, CEO of OrganiGram. "There are important decisions to be made about how to strengthen Canada's medical cannabis system, and how to implement a safe, secure and sustainable regime for consumer use. We are glad to be part of CMCIA's initiatives to bring expert, accurate and credible information to these dialogues."
