The head of Minnesota Medical Solutions says a medical marijuana distribution center should be operating in Moorhead by late July or early August.
CEO, Dr. Kyle Kingsley says his company is now negotiating a lease at one of three locations that have been under consideration. Those sites have not been dislcosed.
The dispensary will have four to five employees, including a pharmacist and a security officer. The distribution center will only allow registered patients, caregivers, and parents inside. The drug will only be available in pill or oil form and provided to patients who suffer from about 10 qualifying conditions.
Moorhead City Manager Mike Redlinger says once a site has been selected, the city has recommended the company hold an informational meeting, or mail out notifications, explaining to those who live nearby, what they can expect, to alleviate any concerns they may have. Redlinger says it will be a professional medical facility and no problems are anticipated.
Kingsley says his company's first distribution site will open in Minneapolis July 1. He says Minnesota Medical Solutions will begin harvest of its cannabis crop at its Otsego location this week. The company is one of two state approved medical manufacturers and will operate four of the eight dispensaries statewide.
