A majority of New Mexicans favor reforming the state's marijuana to reduce penalties for possession, according to a poll to be released by an advocacy group Tuesday.

The New Mexico Drug Policy Alliance scheduled a late-morning news conference at the Capitol to release the results of its survey.

Among those scheduled to attend were state Rep. Emily Kane, D-Albuquerque, who has a bill to reduce penalties pending in the current legislative session, and Sen. Gerald Ortiz y Pino, D-Albuquerque, who has introduced a legislative memorial calling for a study of legalizing, regulating and taxing marijuana in the state.

KRQE News 13 will have more on this story with details of the survey in later newscasts. This web report also will be updated.
