Pot Initiative Booster Tvert: Reach For Your Beer

In politics, there are debates and then there are challenges. Consider the recent proposal by Mason Tvert to be in the latter category.

The campaign director for Amendment 44, a statewide ballot measure seeking to legalize marijuana use for adults, on Tuesday threw down the bong . . . er . . . gauntlet to Mayor John Hickenlooper and Pete Coors.

The challenge? For every beer Coors or Hickenlooper drinks, Tvert will take a hit of marijuana - ostensibly to demonstrate that marijuana is safer than alcohol.

Tvert argues that Hickenlooper is hypocritical for making his fortune by opening Wynkoop Brewing Co. and allowing the Great American Beer Festival to be held in Denver but opposing a city ballot measure that sought to legalize pot use within the city limits. That ballot measure passed.

Tvert said he believes that if either man takes the challenge, he would pass out while standing.

"They know they couldn't possibly hang," Tvert said, while acknowledging he didn't expect either to bite on the challenge. "But they know their product would kill them and the one I use won't."

Hickenlooper's spokeswoman, Lindy Eichenbaum Lent, said, "You've got to give this guy credit for his creativity - he'll do anything to get himself and his cause in the media."

Coors could not be reached for comment.

^^^ This exactly proves our point here in Colorado for Amendment 44. If you notice in the article, Coors was not booked, nor fingerprinted and photographed which is a requirement under state law.

The officer, quoted in the article says: "He was not combative, he was cooperative, and our metro jails like to save their bed space for more serious offenders."

Like adults possessing a small amount of pot? This is a such a great example of the hypocrasy that continues to exist in this land. A rich white guy is let go even though he was driving drunk. Which is the more serious offense?

Pete Coors apologizes in drunk driving case
The former Senate hopeful was stopped May 28 near his Golden home after a trooper said he ran a stop sign.

He shouldn't let that stop him. We have a Congressman - Butch Otter - that has AT LEAST one DUI from when he was Lt. Governor, then elected to his current seat in congress. I don't understand that. Now he's running for Governor and will probably win. He also has a bunch of EPA violations from his ranch - draining wetlands and etc. But nobody's making any negative ads against him. :hmmmm: He flat refuses to debate anyone until Oct. 19, when all the candidates will debate on live TV. That will be his ONLY debate. Chicken shit rat bastard. Fucker shops in my grocery store all the time...thinks he's hot shit with his pointy boots, skin tight jeans and tombstone size belt buckle. Just want to bitch slap him.
