running two 600 watt hps with one 1000 w ballast...

A couple questions about this one. Apparently there is a split cord you can buy to run two 600 watt hps bulbs off of a 1000 w ballast. I have seen it work but how is the power usage compared to two 600 watt ballasts. Are the bulbs as bright and long lasting using the 1000 watt ballast vs the two 600 watt? If anyone has used this method let me know.

IIRC they are only for their brand of bulbs and ballast. I've never used one but the math doesn't add up unless that ballast has a special setting to do this.

It says it works with their bulbs and a 1000 watt magnatic ballast... that company doesnt make ballasts
