HydroFarm 250/400/600/100 HPS Hood

Hello all,
I recently purchased a HydroFarm 250/400/600/1000 watt HPS Hood. I am still waiting for it to arrive but wanted to see if anyone had any experience growing with this hood? Also, what ballast pairs best with it? I want to start out with just a 250 watt ballast as I am coming from fluorescents and LEDs. Would love to hear anyone's experience and opinions on it.

Yes 8". I bought it off eBay. He didn't have much info about it. I should have it on the 20th of this month.

Do you have a fan and ducting to cool it off and disperse the heat? I haven't used one, but it looks like it may need air flowing thru it.

Oh definitely will. Yes I do. I'm just using an industrial bathroom intake fan.

Ok, so I got the light in the mail today... And of course I have a Damn issue! So the guy selling it posted it as a hydrofarm hps / MH 250/400/600/1000 reflector. Well when I open it... The sticker on it says us MH only. I talked to the seller and he said there is a conversion bulb to go from MH to HPS. Has anyone used or heard of using these? Also no intake hole just a solid hood. Just my luck!! But I am determined to make this work out. Any help is always appreciated!

No ballast. It all depends on what ballast your running right?

Bulb and ballast are directly related by what they are rated to run at. Does it have glass?

No glass just the vents on the side. Well that makes me feel better. An my understanding was just match bulb to ballast.

I was looking at getting this same light but instead went with a 400watt HPS/MH with 6"Cool tube
With adjustable reflector wings. Got it for $98 came with a set of 1/8" light hangers , 400watt ballast , cool tube , bulbs both MH/HPS.

Damn that's not bad at all. I actually got lucky and was on eBay. There was one bid for .99 so I threw $5.00 out there and won it. That's exactly what I wanted is a 400 watt HPS just perfect for the about of room I have + my LED. How do you like it?
