As soon as I decide the optimum strategy and setup I will be starting my endevour. After hours and hours of research I have concluded that:
1-Too little light in a large space is bad
2-Too little light for too many plants is bad
3-The more light dispersed to as much of the plant as possible is good
4-HPS/MH only way to go
5-Scrog grows always seem to use little space thus needing less light but always produce sick buds.
Lets talk about lesson number 5 a little further. In almost every journal I've read that did not scrog they have a large space full of a few good colas with smaller branches yielding a few smaller buds. In every scrog journal I've read the space is smaller, thus utilizing light much more effectively and all the buds are trophy colas. My question is why wouldn't everybody that doesn't have a huge bankroll and warehouses to grow in use the scrog method?
If you put 6 plants in a 4'x3' space giving them each 2 square feet to scrog in that has to yield much more than 6 plants in the same space left to grow wildly. Rule of thumb is the more watts per square foot the better with 50 watts per sq. foot the optimum...using a 600 W lamp on this surface comes out to exactly 50 wpsf. Letting the branches grow substantially pre flowering is possible with 2 sq ft each plant and they will receive plenty of light while growing further. 6 plants in this same space will never receive the same light coverage as that of a scrog. A 5' x 4' under a 1,000 watt light would be equal to 50 as well allowing 10 plants in that space. What a great test that would be: 10 plants in a 5 x 4 scrog and 10 plants in a 5 x 4 room. I got a feeling who the winner would be...
