"The whole matter is not only dangerous. It's repulsive," Seminole County Sheriff Don Eslinger said. Clay Adams spent only a short time on the county's elite drug squad before he was arrested on drug charges on Monday night.
Kicked out for a lack of effort, he's now accused of running marijuana grow houses -- even trying to get on the drug squad so he could learn how to avoid detection.
"Quite obviously we're all disturbed by this, and you just hope to resolve any issue left undone," Eslinger said.
"Not only disappointing but disheartening; he worked to cast a shadow over the badge," Robert Merchant said.
Altamonte Springs police chief spoke Tuesday about his officer apparently going bad -- an officer not only accused of growing and selling pot, but handing over sensitive information about undercover agents such as names, cars and tactics.
"Took a lot of effort to get all that, then he handed it over to someone he thought was a drug trafficker," Eslinger said.
The criminal complaint also included that Adams threat to shoot the supervisor who had him removed using a high powered rifle and a silencer.
"We took it as a serious threat to the safety and well being of one particular agent and his family," Eslinger said.
The agent and his family were relocated until Adams' arrest.
Eslinger said he's never seen anything like this in 30 years of law enforcement.
