serendipitous fertilizer cycle?

Hi all,

I recently started my 2nd crop. I had 5 gal. of organic compost/humus tea left over from the last batch so I used it up during the initial veg stage. Here's the catch - it was heavily fortified with bat guano. This mix was obviously way too high in P for this stage (clones to veg) while lacking any significant amount of N. The plants grew slowly for two weeks to about 6 inches - but filled out into mini bushes with great branches. Once the tea was finished, I fertilized using an experimental mix fertilizer twice the third week while watering daily with straight compost tea. The plants grew to 24" in 10 days once the N program was started.

Is this common? Am I finally getting the hang of this? OR did I stumble onto something by feeding them nearly straight P early and switching to the N program?

I still consider myself a newbie (and probably always will) -so i'm hoping you can provide some feedback.

Thanks!
