The reason I wouldn't do that is because the pores in the leaves that the plants use for gas exchange and transpiration of moisture are very small (too small to see). As a tobacco smoker, I know what happens when the particulate matter in smoke recondenses (not the proper term, I know) on things. Cannabis is the same way, more or less.
But if it's a question of one's plants taking a big hit to their process efficiency and getting busted, lol, yeah, I'd do it too.
Been there, done that. Ironically, the inside of the house stank of the perfume from the plug-ins, but all you could smell outside was the wonderful smell of cannabis.
Probably better to pick a strain that has a strong scent, but not a traditional cannabis one. Dark Devil Auto, for example, is pretty stinky but smells like... IDK, not good, exactly, IMHO, but different.
