Nevada County Sheriff's deputies have arrested one person and are searching for four others who broke into a home Sunday morning where marijuana was allegedly being grown.

Deputies responded to the home in the 20000 block of Woodbury Drive in Grass Valley at 4:12 a.m. on a report that five suspects wearing ski masks and armed with crow bars, baseball bats and a handgun had broken into a home demanding money and marijuana, Lt. Bill Evans stated in a news release.

When they arrived at the home, deputies found eight people bound and needing various degrees of medical attention, Evans said.

One 27-year-old victim was in critical condition and was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center, he said. Two others were transported to Auburn Faith Hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

One person was able to escape and went to a neighbor's house to report the crime, Evans said. Another resident, James Becket, has not been located.

Deputies found a rented vehicle at the home full of newly cut marijuana, which they suspect was from the homeowner's garden, he said.

Larken Bauers, 20, of Nevada City, was arrested Sunday morning on suspicion of conspiracy and armed robbery. He was found with evidence linking him to the robbery, Evans said.
